A Journey for over twenty five years...

Sumit Maity Architects

Sumit Maity Architects rose to national prominence early in its journey, securing its first major win in 1999 by clinching the National Open Architectural Competition for a mega housing project commissioned by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). This early success was followed by another landmark achievement—winning a two-stage international architectural competition, open to SAARC countries, for the Bharat Vandana Prangan, a visionary cultural and urban park complex planned over 400 acres in New Delhi.

The firm was also shortlisted in the first stage of a national open competition for a composite sports complex at Haldia, although the second stage of the process was eventually discontinued.

Over the years, Sumit Maity Architects has built a diverse portfolio spanning Institutional, Socio-cultural, Public, Industrial, and large-scale Housing projects. Their clientele ranges across the Private sector, Corporate bodies, Embassies and multiple Government agencies. Reflecting their credibility and scale of work, the firm is empanelled in the highest bracket (project cost of ₹6.0 billion and above) with the Delhi Development Authority.

In the housing sector alone, the firm has designed and delivered over 75,000 dwelling units in the past 15 years—testament to their capacity for large-scale, high-quality delivery.

The founding architects, Ar. Sumit Maity and Ar. Shalini Maity, bring a deep-rooted design philosophy shaped by their formative years in the offices of two of India’s contemporary architectural legends—Raj Rewal and Stein Doshi Bhalla (D). Their exposure to high-profile, complex projects at a young age, combined with a proven record in national and international design competitions, underlines their commitment to excellence, professionalism, and contextual design.
